Position Description:Yellowknife Catholic Schools has been providing quality education to northern students for sixty-five years. We are the only faith-based district in the Northwest Territories. Although we are a Catholic school district, we welcome families of all faiths. We provide schooling for approximately 1400 students in three schools. YCS employs approximately 180 administrators, teachers and support staff. Our students are blessed to have the freedom to grow in all aspects, including spiritually. We know that collaboration, partnerships, and inclusion are the keys to realizing our goals Yellowknife Catholic Schools invites qualified applicants for JK – 12 Teacher(s) in both English and French Immersion. Positions will be for the 2024/2025 School Year. Required Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience ● Must hold, or be eligible for a(n) NWT Teaching Certificate ● Bachelor of Education Degree ● Experience with differentiated instruction and authentic assessment ● Strong focus in literacy and numeracy instruction ● Knowledge of, and experience in the effective use of technology in the classroom as a learning tool ● Experience teaching in a northern communities and an understanding of Indigenous culture, an asset ● A vulnerable sector check is a requirement Required Skills and Abilities ● Demonstrated ability to work as part of an effective school team ● Must work as a team member in planning, delivery and assessment of programs and students ● Understand how to integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices ● Organizational skills, initiative and a strong team focus are required
