UBC Music Education teacher candidates at Cantando Music Festival in Whistler

Eighteen UBC Music Education teacher candidates from the Community Field Experience and Instrumental Pedagogy courses, as well as past TIME cohort students, helped at the Cantando Music Festival in Whistler on April 25 to 28, 2019.

This is a 3 day con-competitive festival designed for North American music programs (concert bands and wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz ensembles and choirs) to enhance their skills and meet other musicians. Approximately 3,500 Middle Years and Secondary music students competed with other concert bands, jazz bands, Drumline, and choir ensembles. Evening performances involved the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble (Dr. Rob Taylor, Director), NufSed, and the MacEwan University Faculty/Alumni Big Band.

Overall, it was an amazing experience for all UBC helpers!
