The devastating news about the tragic incident at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver is at the forefront of all our hearts and minds. Understandably, this is a difficult time for families in our community and beyond, and our hearts go out to the Filipino community. We express our sincere condolences to everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy.
We know that you will be thoughtful and considerate of the emotional and physical needs of students, advisors and colleagues who are impacted by this horrific incident. We are a supportive community, and we are here to help each other through this challenging time.
Teacher candidates, when you are in schools this week, please check in with your administrator and school advisor about any supports the district is offering to students who may be impacted in your school community, or for guidance about how to support students in the classroom.
If you are struggling, please do not hesitate to reach out to your advisor(s) or the TEO.
