May 5 is Red Dress Day. We honour, remember and mourn missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people. Red Dress Day also recognizes the disproportionate rates of violence against Indigenous women and members of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community. As we collectively engage in teaching and learning, let’s pause to reflect on the lives of those enduring the harsh realities of prejudice and hate. Let’s consider how we, as educators, can put a stop to this violence against innocent lives.
