Graham Setters, Program Manager – Student Services (Secondary)

Smiling man with close-cropped short brown hair, wearing a black sweater with snow on ground in backgroundGraham is a UBC alumni and a BEd and MEd graduate from the Faculty of Education. Prior to returning to UBC, Graham worked for over a decade in both teaching and leadership roles internationally and in BC secondary schools. He credits his lived experience as a member of the BC Metis Federation as an asset in helping local and global schools in their authentic implementation of the First People’s Principles of Learning in BC’s revised secondary curriculum.

For the past 18 months, Graham has held the role of program manager in the TEO, working closely with the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NITEP) and the Rural and Remote Teacher Education Program (RRED). In addition to his role as a sessional instructor for NITEP this year, Graham looks forward to continuing to support teacher candidates in his new role as Program Manager – Student Services (Secondary).

Greta Barsch, Program Manager – Practicum (Elementary & Middle Years)

Greta Bartsch previously held the elementary & middle years practicum program manager role on interim in 2023, as well as that of Program Manager – Practicum (Secondary), Learning Design Manager, and Sessional Instructor/Faculty Advisor for the UBC Bachelor of Education program. She is pleased to continue supporting teacher candidates once again.

Greta graduated from UBC (’98) with a BA (History) and a BEd (Elementary), and holds a MEd in Educational Leadership and Administration from SFU (’12). She has worked as principal and IB teacher at Stratford Hall IB World School, and educational consultant for KenCada International Academy, Mombasa (Kenya). A descendent of European refugees and settlers, she is privileged to have been born and raised on the traditional lands of the Ktunaxa people, and with deep gratitude and respect, honours that place as part of her story. She is committed to continually learning, unlearning, and acting responsibly on the lands on the Coast Salish peoples, where she lives, works, and plays. One of Greta’s greatest joys is witnessing the “a-ha!” moments as people build their own capacity to learn, grow, and explore and her personal learning journey is enriched by her work alongside diverse groups. She appreciates a little dirt in her food and the learning that comes with deep challenges.
