2019 Murray Elliott Award Recipient – Dr. Rita Irwin

The Teacher Education Office is pleased to announce Dr. Rita L. Irwin as the 2019 recipient of the Murray Elliott Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teacher Education in the Faculty of Education.

Dr. Rita L. Irwin is a professor of curriculum studies and art education and former associate dean of teacher education. Dr. Irwin has been an educational leader for a number of provincial, national and international organizations including being president of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education, Canadian Association of Curriculum Studies and the Canadian Society for Education through Art, and the International Society for Education through Art.

This award honours full-time and sessional faculty, staff and other persons associated with the Faculty of Education who have made an outstanding contribution to the Teacher Education Program at UBC.

The recipient will receive a plaque along with a Pendleton blanket. In addition, the recipient’s name will be displayed in the Faculty alongside other recipients of the award.
