2026/27 Winter Registration Guide – Secondary

Plan a conflict-free timetable by creating saved schedules prior to your registration date. You can create one or more saved schedules at myworkday.ubc.ca by adding available course sections.

A “saved schedule” is a draft timetable in Workday where you can plan out your classes for the upcoming academic session. Creating a saved schedule does not register you in courses.

1. On the Workday homepage, click the “View My Saved Schedules” button.
2. Click the “Create Saved Schedule” button.
3. Enter a name for the saved schedule and select an Academic Period.
   • Reminder: You must make a separate saved schedule for each Academic Term. Courses that span Term 1 and Term 2 will only appear in the Term 1 saved schedule. 
4. Select “Ok”.
5. Select courses to add to your saved schedule.
   • Search for a course using the search box and/or; 
   • Use the filters to narrow down your search by Academic Level, Delivery Mode, Meeting Days, etc. 
   •  Click on the down arrow beside a course name to expand it. You can view the required course activities (e.g. lecture, lab, discussion, etc.), grouped by activity type. 
   • Click on the:
     • “i” icon to view course section details.
     •  “+” icon to add a course to your saved schedule. 
     • trash can icon to remove a course from your saved schedule. 

Your saved schedules should contain all required courses for the winter session.

On your registration date, log into Workday Student and register in your saved schedules for both Winter Term 1 and Winter Term 2.

Login to Workday and go to Academics > Registration & Courses > View My Courses to view your course schedule. Check your schedule again in mid-August in case changes have been made.

Go to the Finances app in Workday for information about deadlines for tuition and fee payment. Note that your statement will reflect tuition and student fees due for the Winter Session only. You will register again next February for Summer Session courses to complete your program. Additional tuition and student fees for Summer Session coursework will be assessed at that time.

Go to the Personal Information app in Workday to review your mailing and email addresses. Make sure they are correct.

Add one section of EDUC 450B to your Term 1 saved schedule and one section of EDUC 451B to your Term 2 saved schedule.

You must register in the same section number for EDUC 450B and EDUC 451B.

You must register in a section for your teachable subject area(s). You can view the teachable subject(s) for the sections in the notes for the course section and in the table below.

Students with two teachable subject areas, register in one section of each of EDUC 450B and EDUC 451B for one of your teachable subject areas.

Register in the curriculum courses for your teachable subject(s) as follows (click titles next to arrows to open descriptions):

Add one section of EDST 401 to your Term 1 saved schedule.

Choose from sections 001 to 010. (Section 010 is restricted to French specialists*.)

All sections are scheduled in Term 1.

*French Specialists: Register in section 010, if it fits your timetable.

Add EPSE 308C to your Term 1 saved schedule.

Choose from seminar sections 301 to 310 and lecture sections 002 or 003. (Section 310 is restricted to French specialists*.) All sections are scheduled in Term 1.

You must register in both a lecture and seminar section for EPSE 308C.

*French Specialists: Register in section 310, if it fits your timetable.

Add a section of LLED 360 to your Term 1 saved schedule.

Choose from sections 301 to 320. (Section 320 is restricted to French specialists*.) All sections are scheduled in Term 1.

*French Specialists: Register in section 320, if it fits your timetable.

Add EPSE 310B to your Term 2 saved schedule:

1. Choose from seminar sections 301 to 310 and lecture sections 001 or 002. (Section 310 is restricted to French specialists*.) All sections are in Term 2.
2. You must register in both a lecture and seminar section for EPSE 310B.

Students will register in EPSE 310B according to their teachable subjects:

Add one section of EDUC 440A to your Term 2 saved schedule.

Choose from sections 301 to 310 (Section 310 is restricted to French specialists*.) All sections are scheduled in Term 2.

*French Specialists: Register in section 310, if it fits your timetable.

Add EDUC 315A section 301 to your Term 1 saved schedule.

EDUC 315A is scheduled in Term 1 only.

Add EDUC 421D section 301 to your Term 2 saved schedule.

EDUC 421D is scheduled in Term 2 only.
