French Professional Development Courses for Teacher Candidates & Teachers – Summer 2021

This summer, the UBC Department of Language and Literacy is offering professional development courses in French for teacher candidates and early career teachers in the UBC BEd program. Courses are offered online. These courses are open to all teacher candidates who have a minimum B1 DELF level in French. (Proof not required.)

This year, tuition fee bursaries are available! For more information, contact french.educ@ubc.ca.

Bursaries are provided thanks to a generous grant from the government of Canada and the BC Ministry of Education.

LLED 421 – Gramligne (3 credits)

July 5 – August 12, 2021

LLED 421 is based on texts of different genres (narrative, argumentative, descriptive, etc.) and allows teacher candidates to enhance their linguistic and metalinguistic knowledge of the language, while introducing them to a communicative approach to teaching grammar.

LLED 423 – Teaching French Adolescent Literature (3 credits)

July 6 – July 23, 2021

LLED 423 provides teacher candidates with a solid understanding of teaching and learning a second language through literature, while introducing them to the wide range of activities to enhance students’ vocabulary, grammar, literary expressions, and fluency. This course is offered entirely in French.
