Due to COVID-19, teacher candidates in the 2019/20 Bachelor of Education program have had to quickly adapt their teaching and learning styles through the use of online platforms. We are showcasing some of the wonderful examples of projects created by them as part of the community field experience.

- Tell us about your project!
- This project is all about social and emotional learning! It is based on 10 general themes that I have found to be important topics when it comes to SEL. There is no particular order as to how the progression of this guide may run — it is up to the educator and the needs of their students!
Each month has four activities/tips that you may find useful or wish to incorporate into your students’ daily lives at school!
- Did you face any particular challenges in the planning, making or delivery of this project?
- N/A
- Can you tell us about a highlight of creating this remote lesson plan?
- The highlight of creating this remote CFE project was that I was able to really focus on how SEL has impacted my teaching practice and beliefs over the past year. It has allowed me to really find my place in SEL, and realize, truly how important it is. There is so much overlap and interconnection between the new curriculum and SEL that it almost makes it “easy” and effortless to do. Educators use and practice SEL techniques, strategies, and approaches the majority of the day and they don’t even realize — same with our students! So let’s put a name to that, let’s bring awareness, and let’s educate our students about SEL!
