Primary Teachers

School District No. 38 (Richmond) is seeking both full- and part-time qualified primary teachers who have current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience at the Primary K-3 grade levels. Successful applicants will be immediately offered continuing contract status with Richmond. All applicants must possess a current BC Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification by the Ministry of Education – Teacher Regulation Branch.

Intermediate Teachers

School District No. 38 (Richmond) is seeking both full- and part-time qualified Intermediate teachers who have current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience at the Intermediate Grades 4-7 levels. Successful applicants will be immediately offered continuing contract status with Richmond. All applicants must possess a current BC Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification by the Ministry of Education – Teacher Regulation Branch.

ELL and Learning Resource Teachers – Continuing Positions Available

Richmond is seeking qualified teachers for ELL/LRT positions at schools where a combined model is used to support student needs. Successful applicants will be immediate offered continuing contract status with Richmond. Qualified teachers for these positions must have complete qualifications in one of the two areas (either ELL or LRT) and be working on completing the second area.

Qualifications include:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Education
  • Membership in or eligible to become a member in the British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB)
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service

For ELL qualifications:

Completed or working towards completion of:

  • TESL training through a recognized university, or
  • Queen’s University Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language in BC, or
  • The following courses at UBC (LLED 478C, or 478A and 479B, AND LLED 489C, or 489A and 489B)
  • Equivalent coursework from a recognized university

For LRT qualifications:

Completed or working towards completion of:

  • Special Education Diploma Programme at UBC, or
  • Queen’s University Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching Learning Resource in BC, or
  • An equivalent diploma/certificate from a recognized university
  • A minimum of 15 credits in EPSE coursework from UBC, with at least three credits in five of the six following areas:
    • Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptionalities
    • Assessment, Testing, Theory and Practice
    • Strategies for Teaching, Adapting, Modifying Curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
    • Strategies for Teaching Students with Special Needs
    • Meeting the Diverse Behavioural and Emotional Needs of Students
    • Computer technology for the Classroom
  • Equivalent coursework from a recognized university

French Immersion

School District No. 38 (Richmond) is seeking both full- and part-time qualified elementary and secondary teachers who have current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience in the French Immersion Program. Secondary specialties in Francais Langue and Science Naturelles would be ideal. Successful applicants will be immediately offered continuing contract status with Richmond. Applicants must be fluent in the French Language; knowledgeable of the French Immersion Programme and curriculum is required. All applicants must possess a current BC Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification by the Ministry of Education – Teacher Regulation Branch.
