If you love French but do not speak it fluently, FLAGS is designed to help you develop your language proficiency and methodological skills so that you may inspire others to learn French!
The program starts in July with a five-week summer immersion experience (
eligible for federal funding). In September, you can take coursework for elementary generalists conducted mainly in English but including a French methodology course and informal French conversation.
The practicum takes place in generalist classrooms with a core French concentration. A background including at least French 11 or equivalent is required.
Yes, we require transcripts for all of your post-secondary studies. If you were a UBC student, you do not have to send us a transcript.
You will be evaluated for the regular 12-Month September Elementary option.
The offer of admission for September of a given year is for the program commencing in that year only. We can save your referee reports and transcripts for one year if you wish to re-apply to the following admission year.
