Have you met the
entrance requirements?
Choose a session. I've chosen a session. I'm ready to apply.
Ready to Apply Online
Now that you've reviewed the academic and experience requirements for your program option, you're ready to apply!

Step 4a. Apply using the Online Application*

*Online application - All programs except FLAGS which applies only by paper-based application forms provided.

All online applicants, including those new to UBC and current and former UBC students:

  1. Create a You@UBC account or log in with your Campus-Wide Login (CWL).
  2. Click on "Apply" on the You@UBC site and continue with the BEd (Teacher Education) application and submit the completed application.

Step 4b. Submit your Supplemental Application Form

Applicants must also complete supplemental application forms on-line that tell us more about your academic and experience entrance requirements.

To access forms:

  1. First submit the BEd application and obtain a UBC student reference number (former and current UBC students already have their UBC student number).
  2. Log onto the UBC Student Service Centre using your Campus-Wide Login (CWL) account.
  3. Once logged in to your CWL, click on "Supplemental Applications".
  4. Complete the BEd Supplemental Application Form and the Academic Requirement Form of your chosen program option, for example, the "Elementary Supplemental Form" if you have applied for this option. NITEP applicants have to complete only the NITEP supplemental form.

Step 4c. Submit your Official Transcript(s)

If you completed post-secondary studies at institutions other than UBC, arrange to have your official transcripts sent to the Teacher Education Office (see address below) directly from all post-secondary institutions attended or currently attending. (No need to send us UBC transcripts):

    Teacher Education Office
    UBC Faculty of Education
    2125 Main Mall
    Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4

NITEP applicants should send their transcripts to:

    NITEP
    UBC Faculty of Education
    1985 West Mall
    Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z2

Step 4d. Submit two reference forms

Reference Forms | NITEP Reference Forms

Two confidential reference forms must be submitted to the above address either of two ways:

  1. Referee sends it directly to the Teacher Education Office in a sealed envelope
  2. You submit the form(s) sealed in envelopes signed by referee(s) across the back adhesive flap of the envelope with your application package.

Things to remember:

  • Referees must use the above form; no other letter format will be accepted.
  • Referees must attest to your suitability for entering a teacher education program.
  • Choose two referees, at least one of which who has observed you working with children and/or youth.
  • Confidential referee reports submitted to the UBC Faculty of Education will not be forwarded to other institutions.

Step 4e. Provide us with a current Criminal Record Check

When you are registered in the BEd program, you will be required to provide the Teacher Education Office with a signed criminal record check consent form. Instructions will be included in the admission letter. Please note there will be a fee for this service.

It is not recommended that applicants obtain a criminal record check in advance as any prior criminal record checks undertaken outside of this office will not fulfill this requirement. However if you have lived in another country for more than 6 months over the last 10 years, it may be advisable to contact appropriate authorities in that country early as we will require checks from those countries in addition to the BC criminal record check.

  • If you have been convicted of, or given an absolute or conditional discharge, or received a pardon on a criminal offence and you are considering a teaching career, you should write to the BC College of Teachers (#400-2025 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6J 1Z6) before undertaking a teacher education program.
