How to Apply Registration Graduation Teacher Classification
Advanced Standing and Transfer Credit

You can apply for advanced standing and transfer of credit in the Teacher Education program, subject to the following:

  • Only courses that are conceptually consistent with the Diploma specialization will be applied to the Diploma.
  • A maximum of 18 UBC credits of appropriate coursework, completed prior to enrolling in the Diploma and not credited towards another degree or diploma, may be advanced towards the requirements of the Diploma.
  • A maximum of 12 credits of appropriate courses may be transferred from other universities towards the requirements of the Diploma in Education. If you are given permission to include a course/s taken prior to entry into the Diploma in Education, the five-year time limitation begins from the date of commencement of the course/s.
  • If you choose to take a course from another university, you need approval from your Diploma Department Advisor and a Program Coordinator: Student Services in the Teacher Education Office before registering in the course. A Letter of Permission (L.O.P.) will be issued to enable you to take the course/s for transfer credit. Upon completion of the course, it is your responsibility to send an official transcript to the Teacher Education Office in the Faculty of Education at UBC.
