The secondary option prepares you to teach specialty areas in grades 8-12 in BC schools. Admission is based on academic studies during your initial studies, and during the BEd program, you are introduced to the Principles of Teaching, adolescent development and methodology for teaching specialization subjects.
This option prepares students to teach one or two subject specializations in all grades (8-12) in the secondary school.

Teacher candidates are committed to 12 months of accelerated studies from September to August. There are no extended holiday breaks scheduled. Vacations, weddings and other personal events must not conflict with classes or practica.

Secondary teacher candidates register in cohorts of approximately 36 students. Most cohorts are defined by teaching subject specialties. Full details will be available when classes begin.
