If you are completing, or have completed, any post–secondary studies at institution(s) other than UBC, you must arrange to have your official transcripts sent to the Teacher Education Office directly from all post–secondary institutions. There is no need to send us UBC transcripts.

If you have completed courses in the following programs: Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or Advanced Levels, please arrange to send official score reports to the Teacher Education Office.

Information about Application Processing

Once you have submitted an application, our office will send you an email to acknowledge that we have received your application. Since we have hundreds of applications to process, it takes three to four weeks for us to acknowledge your application. After you have received this acknowledgment email, you will be able to review the status of your application, including any outstanding documents, in the Student Service Centre. This is the only means by which our office notifies you of received documents and changes in application status.

It is the student's responsibility to check the Student Service Centre regularly for updates to their application. We regret that we are unable to personally confirm (by email or by phone) the receipt of documents that arrive in our office.

Information about Criminal Record Checks

The criminal record check is only required after you have been admitted to the BEd program.

You will receive detailed instructions, criminal record check consent form, payment authorization and a memorandum of understanding to sign and return to our office after you have been admitted.  Clearance of this criminal record check is mandatory before starting the BEd program. Please note there is a fee to process this check which you will be charged after registration.  Detailed instructions are provided with the admission offer.

Applicants should not obtain a criminal record check in advance as any prior criminal record checks undertaken outside of this office will not fulfill this requirement. However, if you have lived in another country for more than 6-months over the last 10-years, it is advisable to contact appropriate authorities in that country early as we will require checks from those countries in addition to the BC criminal record check.

  • If you have been convicted of, or given an absolute or conditional discharge,
or received a pardon on a criminal offence and you are considering a teaching career,
you should contact the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) before undertaking a teacher education program.
